Humm.... Sub-assemblies.. DUH! I wish I knew that before I completed my Ki-61-II Kai Ko. Dam thing has over 100 layers currently and it can drive you wacko when you find a mistake and trying to locate what layer that dam mistake is on! Good job so far! So...when are you gonna do a AH-64?

I can then go back to the original subassembly files and create other variations as needed.
I tried that for a bit but didn't quite work for me, I do do that for weapons though as I use them on various profiles Looking good so far Grubby!

AH-64 is not on my list. I'm afraid it is one of the very few helos that I have not warmed to! That and the Hind-D.

Any chance of turning it into one of these when it's done?

I might be able to sell you some of those, I know people in the unit in the RNLAF that fly those

I was working with sub-assemblies as separate images for a while but found them to be a little unwieldy to manage, now I just do each in a separate layer folder, and if I need to view it in isolation from the rest of the image I just create a layer of solid colour at the bottom of the folder, which I turn on and off as required.

Ah yes, as you've seen, I'm doing that with my Halberstadt, guns, engine, etc.
I tried that with the Zero but most parts needed changes from time to time and I hadn't planned ahead in a modular way. I think I've got it worked out right for the Halberstadt.
Your Huey should be a perfect match for sub assemblies!

Nice work so far, it's looking really good!

    Re: Whump whump whump

Hi Supah, Yep, 412s are on the menu. There are a whole bunch of EMS 412s operating here in Oz and I want to tackle most of them. There is a particular airframe that has gone through 5 or 6 different schemes in the last 20 years and I'm thinking of doing a "Colour scheme history" of it.
BH, the Huey definitely lends itself to this approach. It has evolved into a modular design by default. I'll be able to paste on a new engine nacelle and nose for the 212/UH-1N, another nacelle and rotors for the 412, and use the original cockpit, tail and rotors for a military Bravo and then change those rotors and tail for a Charlie! There are also some interesting variations like the Ned Kelly gunship trials aircraft where a whole suite of weapons was fitted to a Bravo. I can't imaging how the thing took off. It looks like my profiling future is mapped out for the next 5 years!

Rivetty tivetty ... One of the good things about doing a Huey is that it is not flush riveted, so Bevel and Emboss is coming in very handy for those lovely big dome rivets...
