I had problems with the Zero like that, mostly because I was following a bad drawing. It took a few really good photos to tell me what to do-
Now you need to find a photo that shows enough that you'll know what to do; easier said than done![]()
FAST AND BULBOUS!
I stuck my eyeballs in a golf ball washer but it doesn't seem to have helped my vision any (you know what I mean John). It's a brilliant piece Simon...just those niggling little points to take care of. First time I've heard of a green fill for the Balkenkreuz, but somehow it doesn't surprise me. Maybe we've converted GFR to the wierd and wiggly world of the Luftwaffe. Let's see your interpretation of the wing root.
I don't think its a green fill Otter. Just the basic white cross balkenkreuz the middle is empty showing the camo throughI think?
Could you call it a fill or did they just continue the camo directly beneath to the edges of the cross? Someone please explain?

I can see what you mean GFR. Nothing major just some extra shading in that area to smooth it into the fuselage there no panels or lines just the metal sheet is formed into a smooth blend progreesing up to the wing joint. The original drawing would still be fine just Photoshop work. imo?

Interesing photo from the Oldmobile exhibition. Anyone else pick up on the fact that it's missing the forward nose scoop? Only the Russians.....
To boot it's got a mismatched spinner. I wouldn't trust that thing as an example of anything other than a good example of serious misuse of valuable historic relics. Oh, wrong supercharger intake on it too. I think that comes from an F. I'd hate to see the rest of the aircraft.

Do you see what GFR means about the wingroot though Otter?

I kind of suspected that the Olds image would get that reaction. But I still think that it demonstrates quite clearly the point im trying to make.
I guess I gotta do a 109 real soon.
Apologies to Simon for Hijacking his thread.![]()
Hi folks!
GFR! Thank you for the hint! You are right! I will add some light and shadow to make the transition between the fuselage and wing more realistic! I must confess that I haven't spent too much time to study details on the 109. With this reworked detail I think it's good enough getting printed in a size of 23cm in a book.
Some note to the Balkenkreuz on the fuselage. It was just White outline version. The background was RLM 83 in this section.
Otter! Checked again your MG length. It's okay as you have drawn it! So I don't change it!
Cheers
