Re: Bf 109 G-10 profile project

After looking at the pictures Otter just posted, I would loose the lighting/shadow in front of the fresh air intake (it makes it look semi-recessed while the photos show it completely sticks out the side)

I would also suggest making the ammo blister humps slightly more prominent. But just a tiny bit. It seems like the 3D effect might get lost when camo is applied.

Re: Bf 109 G-10 profile project

    Hi folks!

First thank you for the commets. Regarding the fresh air intake below the cockpit I can tell you that there were 3 different styles. I will post them in near future. Also G-10 was delivered also with different tail undercarriage, tail rudder, and antenna!

So please be patient, that the profile doesn't fit to the restorated plane.

What do you mean with radio mast? position? On real G-10 with mast the mast was fitted on the canopy! Many reference pictures were published!

Re: Bf 109 G-10 profile project

I'll send you an updated post on this. According to my sources, no G-10 ever had a wooden rudder unless it was needed to get the aicraft airworthy long enough to surrender. The extended tail wheel is iffy. Unless you have photos showing that I'd go with the short tail wheel. The rear bulge is wrong, and I accept full blame for that. It needs to move forward and the upper panel is just riveted on over the old skin.
    Awsome work as usual.

    Hi Otter!

I'm sorry but your research is wrong! I have a wounderful pic showing just the tail of an Erla built G-10 W.Nr. 150XXX. The swastika is cut off and you can see the wooden construction. I'm sorry but can't post the pic here as it will be published in a forthcoming book.
Check again www.messerschmitt-bf109.de There is a set of 3 photographs of a Erla built plane. Use the search function. It's W.Nr.150816.

Regarding the short tail whee. Just WNF plane Bf 109 G-10/U4 had that. They also had different cover of the MG.

Planes built by Erla Leipzig, Mtt. Regensburg had long tail wheel.
Which rear bulge do you mean?

    cheers
