Nice starting! One day I will nail one too
New WIP:
Spit Mk V. Nothing much to show for the moment.![]()
I will be moving to the Mk IX once I've done the Mk Vs I'm supposed to do. And then I will be doing some Mk I/II, my personal favourite.![]()
France actually bought one Spit Mk I in 1939 or 1940 so I will have to draw that of course. If anyone has reference cc. that aircraft, I'd be interested in seeing it as I've only seen a colour profile of it for the moment.
Nice startas usually in your case
here is what he did on this topic...but I belive yours will be superbish

Update:
Still not that much to get your teeth in. I've added details such as canvas details on the rudder, rivets on the rear fuselage, cockpit stuffing, etc. Still along way to go, but it's getting there...
Just as I was with the Allison Mustang, I'm unhappy with the nose shape (lower part). It conforms to the pictures I have used but it still seems a little off. I'll leave it to that for a while and go back at it later.

Hi Gamary could not resist, I tried. Hope this helps. I have attached two photographs where you can see how shallow the chin is compared to yours and where the engine cowl bump is clearly visible. Also notice the wing root (trailing edge) up to the dihedral. The sweep and wing meet at a point slightly lower than the belly. Arial is not vertical to the centre line, it angles back slightly, exhaust top cowl, lower edge is not at 90 to the horizontal centre line (fuse datum) and angles down to the nose. I don't think you would see this at this size. What size is the finished piece? really do hope this helps.![]()

It does, and I truly appreciate it. Thanks a lot.really do hope this helps.
The drawings is slightly over 4100 px wide (35 cm at 300 dpi). I've updated the drawing as per some of your comments:
The green arrows means things I have modified, and red ones points not yet corrected. EDIT: I've now realised what you meant cc. the lower line of the upper cowling. I'll modify that. Disregard the red arrow there.![]()
Funny thing about the nose shape is that I initially had it as it is now and didn't like it so I made it a bit deeper to reinforce the shape/roundness... I'll have to modify the shading and reflected light to go with the new shape.
Thanks for pointing out the early/late Mk IV/V bulge difference. I wasn't sure when or how it occured.
Thanks again: your comments are useful and appreciated!![]()

Yeah baby, looking more like it! OK, arial, angle at the back is a lot lower, wing root fillet is a graceful sweep, yours changes quite abruptly when heading to the fillet apex, have a play, you can use the door hinge as a reference regarding the hight of the fillet plate. The wing shape needs a nudge here and there and then I would say you are hitting it's sweet spot. I will leave you to it.
Cant wait to see her and pkassak versions.
Ps think the increased bulge was a change from the merlins single stage to a its two stage bulk.
