    Re: Albatros D series

No, I think it's the outline that needs to be broader from what I see...
or it's a contrast illusion of the photograph...

Yeah, after posting I thought the outline was too small too. Also the 1 looks a bit fatter too I think. And probably more to the left too, which means the cross is farther forward than standard.
It does need work...maybe by Sunday night?
    Thanks guys

    Re: Albatros D series

I was going to comment on the markings as well, but assumed that they were place-holders and liable to change. So here goes, me telling experts about an era of time I know nothing about... To me they look to be hand painted not perfectly mask straight, look at the inconsistencies like the inner point and indeed the top right of the 1 they look rounded, the same argument could be made for the crosses.

    Maybe its the photo?

Otherwise, still the best profile I've seen.

Back to the easy era for me.

And check again the placement of the dots.
They should be placed a bit lower and the spacing needs rearangement too,
as from the photo, it seems that the second dot from the nose,
is placed between the engine air ventilation fairings...

I think I've got it, or at least it's much closer and definitely better looking!

If I have those green lines right, the marking are pretty close now.

I don't know if I've got them right but there's very little to see for correct placement-except the second dot and the louvers as you pointed out. You can see the lower lover is cut into that second dot. I used that and the dash+1 as the main placement points. Do the look better now? Maybe still a bit lower? They do seem like they line up pretty close to the center line.

I had commented on my first post of this plane that I had planned on doing hand paint work, which I have done. Those crosses are factory painted and a razor sharp. BUT, you saw something I hadn't thought of; sure those crosses are perfectly painted, but the yellow surrounding them certainly isn't! Good catch GFR
    Maybe its the photo?
On the other hand, there is some halo-ing around any areas of contrast common to any old photo that isn't too sharp. I've run into this on most all photos WW1 and WW2.

I also corrected the head rest and extended combing, I was pretty off before.
I think the dirt and uneven paint really helps out.

EDIT: ooops, I still need to stagger the panel lines on that headrest!

Fantastic work... Funnily Mark Miller's incredible 3d models have been reminded to me by two peoples recently, Mrys doing a Dr-1 on Military-Meshes, and this Albatros of your...
    Same attention to details.

Is Mark Miller still "active"? I have the impression he hasn't produced anything new in a long time. It's a shame because his work is splendid.

    Hi BH,

Incredible work, and a real masterpiece, if there weren’t a small detail you have drawn not 100% perfect.
Check the cross at the vertical tail. It should be a little bit larger and on another position.

    Cheers, Simon

    PS: Sorry for this pettiness.

    Re: Albatros D series

Whats the white thing just behind the prop but inline with the 5 circles?

And is that a seat belt or something painted hanging over the side of the cockpit?

Looks to have a panel seem running across it.

You've probably planned on adding these later...right?
