    RLM76 Licht Blau (Darker Shade)
    RLM79 Sandgelb
    RLM81 Dunkelbraun
    RLM82 Olive Grün

From the same source after careful studying of this aircraft.

Clint, I would not be so sure about the colors on these JG 54 aircraft. There are some theories they might use also russian brown and green found on their way to new airfields...camos were non standard type, so...I read it in REVI magazine...

Exactly Peter, hence why the possibilities are endless. I've seen discussions that the use of French colours were a possibility for the JG54 colours but that's all they are possibilities. Discussions that captured RAF stocks were used in France during the BOB are also out there. The article in Revi on the possible Russian colours surely only relate to the field applied JG54 experimental scheme of the browns and greens. So the factory applied paints are in my opinion a good reference for the RLM colours.

It's a guessing game at best.

Aww, c'mon guys. I'm already a total Luftwaffe noob-perten and now you're playing with my brains.

Well, at least, this one isn't from JG 54 and was flying in Greece so I think the Russian colours are clearly not an option.

I'm almost finished with the profile but I could use some opinions on two questions:

    Name: Bartel Bf109G6 Red 13d 70.jpg

Some profiles show this aircraft with no yellow on the lower cowling part. The only picture that shows the nose seems to indicate it was yellow, but I'm all for second opinions.

Also, I'm a bit uncertain about the dark section between the supercharger intake and the name (white blob beneath the windscreen). On the picture, it looks like a darker section, or possibly darker mottling. It doesn't appear like this on photos taken on the ground. So: was the aircraft repainted at some point? Is it some stain on the picture (seems unlikely)?

I haven't decided what to do about this dark section for the moment, but I'll finish the last bit of weathering and details before taking a decision.

Blimey Gaetan you do pick em. Does a better photo of this aircraft exist anywhere?

Sorry to hijack your topic with the colour discussions but I just wanted to get across that it's crazy getting hung up on these colours. No one knows what they looked like exactly. If it looks about right then that's cool so you get to spend more time on the fun part of drawing the profiles.

That dark section could just be the shadow on the MG-131s "beule" , like so:

Given the plane on your image banks to the left, even more shadows on that side... my 2€ cents.
As for the yellow cowling, no idea, but i believe it was pretty usual at the time, even for some mto machines.

@Clint: You don't need to apologize at all. Not only was I simply joking (although I really am a noobxperten ), but your comments have been extremely helpful to me and i truly appreciate it. I hope I can be of service in return whenever you need it.

@Gaël: that's a very good point about the shadow. I gadn't thought about this.

Anyway, here goes the (hopefully) finished profile, complete with tropical filter and R6 cannon pod:

I'd like to dedicate this to Otterkins, and I'd also like to thank all of those who have helped me with their knowledge and insights.

Creating this has been something of a challenge, but I'm rather pleased with the result (still room for improvement though!). Sorry about the watermarks, but we all know what happens to unmarked hi-res files.

Nice ! Looks very very much like a Gustav to me
I too have some OneONine-opathy recurrence sometime (mais je me soigne…),
so hope you'll forgive some observations :
-If it is a G-6 (non pressurized), it needs a small intake on that triangle panel under the windsceen.
-As it has the filter, then maybe it should have the two umbrella holder on the fuselage side, also under the windscreen (see photo above).
    Top job anyway
