Peter: Your comment makes me realize that the highlight is too strong for a non-NMF Mustang but, yes, there is a bulge there. The base of the rudder was fatter than the upper part.

nice, but what about the reflection on tail. just behind and below the horizontal tail? was thee some bump that should reflect so much ???

That highlight is usually evident running back along the fuselage, to approximately the last inspection plate. Most choose not to (or don't nontice it) add it to their profiles.
Help! I'm working on RAF Mustangs and I'm having trouble with the louvered vents used on many RAF Mustang IV. Does anyone have good photos of these? That would come in really handy. I've searched quite a bit and only found one acceptable photo. I guess I'm using the wrong keywords...![]()
Indeed, difficult to find clear pictures of that part. Best thing i've found so far are these :

Thanks a lot Gaël! That will be helpful.
As for the Merlin X, I will be doing it one day, but not quite yet as I have so much work.It will be an amusing profile to do.
Another, recent Mustang profile: John C. Meyers' mount on January 1, 1945:
Some of you might note that I've had second thoughts about the polished look of the NMF. I now make it more reflective than I used to, and I like the result better. But, then again, I guess it's a matter of taste as it's difficult to be sure how polished the operational Mustangs were.
REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!![]()

The metal is really nice!
Which P51 unit had some of their planes polished and shiny? I can't remember but I know I've seen war time photos.
FAST AND BULBOUS!
