Amazing Dave! Now it's 100% perfect! For sure the best WW1 profile I have ever seen. It doesn't mind if the lighting for the plane and pilot doesn't fit 100% together! Nobody will notice.

    Cheers, Simon

PS: Do you maybe know Herbert Kruse's colour profiles? He makes very realistic bases for his profiles if they are standing on the ground. Can't find anything in the www at the moment! I will have a look later today.

Not just WW1 profiles, profiles full stop. Its just stunning.

I've asked this before to no avail, but I'd like to see what you guys consider to be the best aviation profile ever produced.

Not familiar with Herbert Kruse's work.

I think we are looking at it...

How many man hours have you clocked up on this piece.

    Re: People profiles???

Come on guys, cut it out
I think I'd be more than happy to be counted with all you guys here! We have some heavy hitters on this site and that's a fact
(You're one of them you know GFR!)

So the lighting looks ok? Huh, go figure, and I thought it needed to be reworked! I do like the shadow on his shoulder but I still need to play around with it a bit more.

Herbert Kruse? Never heard of him. I looked him up and found several really nice looking profiles by him, but nothing with ground work. Can we get him to join us Simon?
I'd love to see what he does with the ground.
I'm still not committed with what I have yet.

Thanks guys, it makes all the work seem worth it.
How many hours Clint? No idea! I know I spent WAY too long on that damn leather coat!

    Hello BH!

Sorry for the delay to answer! I have tried to contact Herbert Kruse two weeks ago, but got no answer. Now I got the very sad news at LEMB that Herbert passed away some time ago. For those who don't know his work:

That's very sad He had a good clean solid style. I like the way he did the shadow on the ground. Was that what you were referring too?

    Hi Blowhard,
Glad to see that you put the man in front of his plane.
You make me happy, every thing cones alive when you mixed
the man and his machine. You dit a good job, the leader of the
coat is perfect. Yes the richt arm is a little twist on a strange
way, I think the elbow must come out and the shoulder must
turned to the front. The neck is to long, the back of the shoulder
must start almost by the back of the head.
I hope this wil help you to get a good pose.
A tip, paint the face in the same technic you use for the rest of
    the illustration.

    Good job! Martin

    Re: People profiles???

Thanks Martin. All good points. Have you seen the photo I used?

His neck certainly is long. I almost think people of long ago had longer necks seeing as though they all wore those high stiff collars!
    How did they wear those????
    http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4134/4...81c4f988_z.jpg

The arm bent is the over-long coat sleeves buckling outward, not his elbow. But it does look a little more weird now that the arm is shortened.

A tip, paint the face in the same technic you use for the rest of
    the illustration.
I'm not sure what you mean here. It's all painted the same way, same combination of airbrush/burn/dodge, several layer settings and added textures. I tried to make the skin look like skin, leather as leather, felt as felt etc. And do you mean all skin? His hand is the same as the face.
    Maybe you mean something else?

    FAST AND BULBOUS!
