Re: People profiles???
Dave amazing!
There is just one thing I don't understand! Check the shadow of the wing on the fuselage. (from the leading edge) How can there be a shadow if there is no wing above?
Cheers, Simon

Re: People profiles???
Hey Elephant, I was thinking the same thing all along but assumed he was just built weird. I'll give that some thought and check some other photos.
I'm not sure what you mean Simon. You mean the shadow of the leading edge of the upper wing? It could be wrong, I'm not sure. I was going for roughly a top dead center 12:00 noon sun. Maybe it's the center cut-out on the trailing edge of the shadow that makes the front look off? Or is it something I don't see? Please let me know, I want to get this right.
I do have a 1/48 scale model, maybe I should light it? I'm pretty sure it won't be easy to get this sort of lighting on a small model though.
Here's the wing showing the cutout for reference. Maybe I shouldn't even show this cutout in the shadow?

Re: People profiles???
Depending on where you consider your light source to be coming from the wing shadow does look a little forward of where you'd typically expect it to be. Admittedly I draw all my profiles with much the same light source usually 45 degrees directly in front. You may have chosen differently in this case, but it does kinda look like the light is emanating from behind the trailing edge, its hard to tell with everything in this outstanding profile drawn in such a beautifully subtle way.

Re: People profiles???
Dave, found no time yesterday evening! So I try today evening! GFR noticed the same as I! You use different light sources. Sample: Wheel and shadow of the wing on the fuselage.
Cheers,

Re: People profiles???
Hi Dave!
Here is what I tried to tell you:

Light sources are different! If the blue light source is your main the shadow of the wing should be at the position of the green arrow. The shadow can't be in front of the green arrow. If blue is your main, you should correct all the other red marked lights.
At your profile without your "Von Schleich" the lights and shadows are perfect! Why have you changed that here?
Cheers, Simon
BTW: amazing grass base!

Re: People profiles???
Ok...
Top wing, I plead ignorance! I lined the path used for this shadow right to the leading edge of the top wing...but O must have moved something somewhere
ooops
For the lower wing, there is a shadow there, maybe it should be stronger?
The wheel, I hadn't given the highlight any thought, I guess I think of it as "form" lighting to show contour, rather than directional lighting. That's wrong thinking on my part.
The tail is right...I think. It's a curved surface and I'm pretty sure it would cast a curved shadow wouldn't it? Look at this one again;
http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/www/p...20radiator.jpg
Isn't that shadow right or am I way off?
And now, more to the point, your last question! Hmmmm, does it look right to you? The figure is shaded top center, or top front. It's WAY to much work for me to redo him, and that's why I changed them.
But do you think this looks right? I'll be damned if it doesn't look pretty good...I was thinking of the shadow in flying position all this time, as if it would adust and still be angled if i rotated the plane
What does everyone else think??? Maybe just change the highlight on the wheel and add a shadow on it?

I would LOVE not redoing the shadows if I could get away with it
You might just be right Simon!
