    Re: Aussie Mustangs

Was that a gyro gunsight like the K-14 or just a simple reflector sight?

P-51 SIG search for "gunsight" will give you more photos than you can absorb of the K-14 and N-9 sights.

    Thanks Guys.

Santo, those pics are great, thanks. They will help a great deal.

Gaetan, the IIL is a gyro sight.: It looks like this:acmgs05.jpg

    Vacajun:I'll check out P51 SIG.

That should only appear on the right (starboard) side of the plane, unless this was different on the CAC Mustangs. I saw some very good photos not too long ago on either the WIX or P51SIG forum that a P-51 owner made to illustrate how the release worked. I'll see if I can track the thread down if anyone's interested.

Edit: I just noticed that the pitot tube is showing also. It should be on the starboard side as well. Are you going to use these lines for both sides and just hide/show the relevant parts?

That's the plan, Jarink. I will have to reverse the text when I do that handle. I will seperate port from starboard when I render.

The start of the 'Stangs ...

A68-1001 is the first up. It was the "pattern" aircraft for the CAC built Mustangs. It is an Inglewood-built P-51D. It was the only RAAF Mustang to wear camouflage. The Italian based machines were owned by the RAF.

I know that it is early days yet on this profile, but I am looking forward to seeing this one evolve. I finished a similar 3sqd Camo Mustang a few weeks ago, and will post it when I get a chance.
