So in the case of the Harrier or others which are accessed from the starboard side, should they be drawn the other way round?

What Otter says is pretty much it. One generally boards an aircraft from the left side. Same goes for horses (And no, John, it doesn't apply to women as well).
Most nose art is on the left side also, so it makes more sense to draw it like that...
Wait a minute...one doesn't board women from the starboard side? I was under the impression you boarded them any way you could. Let me check my reference manual on this.

Does your manual have anything on panel lines as some models seem to have a lot more than others, is it tied in with weathering?![]()
